The history of the Foundation

In 2020, the Shanti Foundation celebrated its 25th anniversary. Located in Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka, this city is considered the center of India's new economy. Yet here too, great contrasts can be seen, particularly in the disparity of wealth. Alongside the large financial buildings with modern constructions are more or less large slums, where entire families live on 6m2, without access to sanitary facilities or running water. It is in this context that the Shanti Foundation was created, in order to support underpriviledged families for the schooling of their children, allowing them to benefit from good learning conditions. Today, more than 180 children in different school programs benefit from the Foundation's support.

In 2008, Shanti Foudnation India was created and recognized by the Indian government. This recognition allows greater transparency in the management of funds from abroad and to pay less taxes. The administrative headquarters are in Switzerland, the executive headquarters are in India.
